Finally in came the rest of the text regarding page numbers etc, with alternate black and white colours refleced once again on the other side for style and 'punch'.

Then in came chris, in black and white, reflected either side and high in contrast. Also i added in the text saying what page, Chris and his band are being interviewed on. The bright, contrasting colours of the spikey thing in the middle work well i think, again, suitable for the house style. they were composed of many different layers and with an outer glow effect also.

So, I started off with a texture as a background and designed an arrow with the word contents reflecte don either side. looking back now I think it would have been better to have done more with the back ground other than just a straight texture...

Finally, I inserted Chris! and the skyline text along with a price and 'RL productions'. Overall I am pleased with how it turned out.

In this stage I slightly lowered the mast head to make room to design a skyline. Also at this stage i inserted cover lines with a very bold look to them which suited the house style of the magazine. Aswell as this i also added a bar code.

Then i focused on the main cover line, i used the same technique for this as i did the mast head, apart from I also used the texturizer and gave it an icy, cold feel to it.

Next was the mast head, made up of to layers. the bottom layer with a strong gaussian blur filter and the top one with slightly dropped opacity for the blur beneath to give it a glowing look.

I started of with to simple brush textures that I then altered by using layers and curves and also levels.

This is the resaerch presentation I did before I fully began the college magazine project

College Magazine Contents Page

Finally, I used the filter- Extract tool again to grab a print-screen'd font off dafont.com, re coloured it, and resized it to fit in the top left corner. Next to this I placed a manipulated image of brick work, not dissimilar to the image of brick work on the front cover of this magazine.

Then imported to images of students, i cut them out using the filter- Extract tool which can be really helpful as well as the magic wand tool and magnetic lassoo etc. I also used the box tools to give a border effect and then used the vertical type tool down the left hand side border.

I started out with a simple gradient...

My first initial idea, presented by sketch and influenced by the magazine covers below:

These are magazines that I came across that really inspired my magazine front cover:
On this cover, the thing that stood out to me was the purple, digital, abstract design done in graffiti style which gives the magazine an urban, 'street' look, which is what I want to achieve with my magazine.

This magazine stood out to me because of the mast head, I just loved the colours used, the font and the way it is related to the skyline, it is brilliant as it is vibrant, colourful and very eyecaching, exactly what I want to achieve with my own.

Again, it was the masthead that particularly appealed to me on this cover, the style looks very 'cool' and 'trendy', making it appeal to youths and young men in thier early twenties possibly.

Finally, I added the cover lines, price, barcode and the main cover line, suitable to the picture; ''Exam Stress Turning Your Life Upside Down???".
At this point, since the mast head was in place, I decided to start working on the sky line, and I also added a vertical arrow, which went well with the image of me upside down.

After saving it on my pen drive, I took it home and designed the mast head using a wacom board that I have for my home computer so that I could literaly draw the text by hand myself.

After using Curves to adjust the toning and colour, I used the liquify tool to manipulate its shape greatly.

Then I added the background of which I had planned to place the mast head.

I then cropped it and used the Dodge tool to highlight the edges of my body, giving it a 'glowing' feel.

I started out with the original photograph of me doing a handstand against a wall with graffiti on it which i thought would go well will my already decided title 'LEARNING GROUND' as it sounds quite urban which is the overall feel I wanted to get across to the consumer of the college magazine.
